THE 4TH METRO LINE IS BEING BUILT | Magyarul
With their decision to build the 4th metro line, the Municipality of Budapest and the Central Government are fulfilling a long-established need and tending to an oversight in development. The line running between Kelenföld railway station and Keleti railway station, which will be more than seven kilometres long and have ten stations, will improve the lives of almost half a million Budapest residents and all those who visit the city, including the residents of the communities lying on the outskirts of the capital. Nearly half a million passengers a day will travel on the line, which will be built with the most modern technology, support from international financial institutions, and the considerable participation of Hungarian contractors. Construction will begin at the end of 1998, and the new line will be open to the public by 2003.
