Deputy Thirsters: Econo-mizery, 1989

"Here is, for example, 'Econo-mizery'. The group (Is Elek, Balázs Beöthy, Balázs Fekete, Attila Nagy and Tibor Várnagy) entitled 'the Deputy Thirsters' created a paraphrase of this very characteristic board game, filling an entire space. Each square of the board game was the work of those taking part in each summer course of the Szentendre Lajos Vajda Studio, and prepared under the guidance of the "Deputy Thirsters". The opening title and illustration referred to the City of Blue Steel (zd, the wonder of wonders) and comrade György Aczél, with unhidden blasphemy. The game, like a sour metaphor, signified that creators of rules measure out our potentials with dimensions and assignments. While the authors of the dream state of ideas took hold, in the creation of a monopolar person, of never to be obsolete distinction, meanwhile in the spirit of the implacable thought processes of the rules of the game, a poor man rich man model evolved, and we saved in vain."
