Automata for Cellular and Molecular Computing

International Workshop

August 31, 2007, Budapest, Hungary

Organized by the Theoretical Computer Science Research Group at the
Computer and Automation Research Institute (SZTAKI) of
the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA)

The workshop is co-located with FCT 2007, the 16th International Symposium on Fundamentals of Computational Theory, held in Budapest, Hungary on August 27- 30, 2007. It will take place in Budapest, immediately after FCT 2007.

Aims and scope

The aim of the workshop is to present novel ideas connecting cellular and molecular computing with the more classical areas of automata theory. In this framework, the extended notion of "automaton" includes interaction with an environment or other automata, uses resources represented by multisets, and can have new features inspired by "natural computing". Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the behavioral and structural properties of automaton-like computational models based on different types of cellular and molecular computing systems, such as, for example, membrane systems, networks of bio-inspired language processors, or test-tube systems.

Proceedings, special issue

A proceedings volume edited as a technical report of the Computer and Automation Research Institute was available at the workshop. You can also download the electronic version.

A special issue of the International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science with a collection of selected papers of the workshop will be edited by Erzsébet Csuhaj-Varjú and György Vaszil.

Authors are invited to send their manuscripts to the address vaszil@sztaki.hu not later than September 30, 2007. Please use the LaTeX 2e style files provided by the publisher.

Note that submitting your manuscript does not automatically implies its acceptance, all papers will go through the regular review proceedure of the journal.
