The title of one of the articles in the May 9 Budapest supplement
questioned the necessity of the new metro. László
Pintér, a certified transportation engineer, writes that
the city needs a means of transportation in the south Buda region
that will solve the connection between this part of the city and
the downtown area and will create attractive public transportation
with appropriate quality of service.

László Pintér
disputes the argument according to which the tram system or the
suburban railroad system should be developed instead of the metro.
According to Pintér's opinion, the construction of the
metro is the only solution to eliminating the congested surface
traffic that loads the center of the Eleventh District.
